Before you start fitting
If you are a builder, carpenter, shopfitter or competent installer, fitting a glass partition is a manageable job provided you are comfortable setting out accurately, fixing aluminium channel and handling large sheets of toughened glass.

The difficult part should not be working out the individual glass sizes and system allowances. Enter the finished opening dimensions into the calculator and it works out the panel divisions, channels, joins and selected door components for you.
Most supply-only customers use their own builder, carpenter, shopfitter or fitting team. The system does not require specialist glass fabrication on site because the panels arrive cut and toughened to their finished dimensions.
You do, however, need to be confident working accurately to millimetres and handling heavy glass safely. This is not a job where an incorrectly measured panel can simply be trimmed afterwards.
The channels, doors and glass all depend on the finished opening. Check the opening carefully and work from the dimensions supplied with the system.
A typical 2400mm x 900mm panel weighs about 54kg in 10mm glass and around 65kg in 12mm glass. Suitable glass suckers and enough people to handle the panels are important.
Fixings into the floor, walls and ceiling are not supplied because the correct screw or fixing depends on the substrate you are fixing into.
Any required holes and cut-outs are made before toughening. Once manufactured, toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled to correct a mistake.
Take the final measurements after plastering, the finished floor and the finished wall surfaces are complete.
Measure the width and height in several places and use the smallest dimension as your starting point. Enter the tight finished opening dimensions into the calculator.
Do not make your own deductions for the channels, door openings, dry joins or corners. The calculator applies those allowances when it divides the opening into panels.
The exact tools depend on the building and fixing substrates, but the following are particularly useful for a glass partition installation.
The ceiling uses U-channel. The floor and walls use two-part channel, which allows the glass to be positioned before the second part of the channel is clipped into place.
Gaskets fit into the channels and the individual glass panels are connected with clear dry joins where required.
The glass panels arrive at their finished sizes, while the aluminium arrives in 3 metre lengths for cutting on site.
This is why the job is different from fitting a conventional framed wall: the aluminium can be adjusted on site, but the glass dimensions cannot.
Frameless doors use hydraulic floor-mounted hinges and top fittings. Framed doors use side-hung hydraulic hinges and need the correct handing because they open in one direction.
If the door uses a lever latch, alignment with the strike plate matters. Any required glass cut-outs must already have been allowed for before the glass is toughened.
On a framed door with a transom, the overhead glass panel must be installed before the door frame is fixed because it cannot be inserted afterwards.
Straight partitions and standard corner or T-shaped layouts can normally be configured through the calculator.
If the opening is significantly out of square or level, the proposed divider lands close to a door, or you need an unusual door or divider position, it is better to check the arrangement before the glass is manufactured.
