Retrofit lock for frameless glass doors

Clamp-On Glass Door Locks - No Holes Required

If a frameless glass door has already been made and you later decide it needs a lock, drilling the glass is no longer an option. A clamp-on lock fits to the edge of the existing door without requiring holes or cut-outs in the glass.

That makes it particularly useful as a retrofit lock for an already installed frameless glass door.

Why a Clamp-On Lock Is Useful After the Glass Has Been Toughened

Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after manufacture. Any holes or cut-outs needed for conventional glass door hardware have to be specified before the glass is toughened.

A clamp-on lock avoids that problem because it attaches directly to the edge of the existing frameless door rather than passing through the glass.

01

No Glass Cut-Out

The lock clamps to the edge of the door, so the glass does not need a pre-manufactured hole or lock cut-out.

02

Can Be Retrofitted

It can be added after the frameless glass door has already been manufactured and installed.

03

For 10mm or 12mm Glass

The clamp-on lock is suitable for 10mm or 12mm toughened glass doors.

04

Key to Thumbturn

The lock is supplied with 3 keys and uses a key-to-thumbturn configuration, with key operation from one side and thumbturn operation from the other.

Clamp-On Lock or Lever Latch?

The clamp-on lock and lever latch solve different problems.

Clamp-On Lock

Best considered when the frameless door already exists or when you want to avoid holes in the glass. It clamps to the door edge and can be retrofitted later.

Lever Latch

A lever latch is specified as part of the door system before manufacture. On a frameless partition it may require a cut-out in the adjacent glass so the lock can align correctly with the strike plate.

If the door has already been toughened, do not attempt to drill it. Toughened glass cannot be drilled or cut afterwards.

For Frameless Glass Doors

This clamp-on lock is intended for frameless glass doors. If you are specifying a complete new partition rather than adding a lock to an existing door, it is better to decide the required locking arrangement before the glass is manufactured.

That gives you the choice between the available door hardware rather than limiting the options to components that can be fitted afterwards.

Planning a New Glass Partition?

If the partition has not yet been ordered, decide whether the door needs to lock before the glass is manufactured. Door hardware that requires glass holes or cut-outs needs to be allowed for at that stage.

If you are unsure which lock arrangement is suitable, contact us before ordering the door glass.
