Choose the correct U-channel and two-part aluminium profiles for a secure, clean glass partition installation. Our profiles are available in 25mm, 30mm and 50mm sizes, with matching silver, black, white and anthracite finishes.
A typical frameless glass partition uses a single-piece U-channel at the ceiling and two-part channels at the walls and floor. All channels are supplied in the same selected size: 25mm, 30mm or 50mm. The key difference is that the face of the two-part channel clips off. This allows the glass to slot into the top U-channel and then be positioned in the floor channel before the front face is clipped back on, avoiding the traditional lift-and-drop or shuffle-glazing method.
The matching gaskets are slotted into the channels before the profiles are fitted. During glazing, the panel slots up into the top U-channel, the lower edge is positioned in the open two-part floor channel, and the front face clips back on. This is quicker and easier than pushing wedge gasket in around fitted glass, and it also makes a panel much easier to change later. Profiles are supplied in 3m lengths and are not pre-drilled.
The U-channel is normally fitted across the ceiling and is the same selected 25mm, 30mm or 50mm size as the corresponding two-part profiles. With the gasket already fitted, the glass slots up into the top channel before its lower edge is positioned in the open floor channel. No oversized or deeper head channel is required.
The removable face is the key advantage. Fit the base channel and slot in the gasket first, then slide the glass up into the top U-channel and position its lower edge in the floor base. The front cover clips into place afterwards to leave a clean finished edge. The same principle makes future panel replacement much easier.
The profile size affects the appearance of the frame and the fitting clearance; it is not simply a description of the glass thickness. Use a consistent size and finish across the compatible components in your partition.
